I am an accomplished control engineer with extensive experience in the development and implementation of novel control schemes. My research interests are in the area of nonlinear and linear robust control, as well as in intelligent adaptive control approaches. Emphasis is given towards the development of novel theoretical methods which can be practically validated. I have co-authored more than 200 papers and 2 research monographs in networked control and robotics, edited 2 research monographs, co-supervised 15 PhD students, some of them with national awards. I led grants at a value of more than £1m.
Currently, I am involved with the two major EPSRC-projects, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for Nuclear (RAIN, EP/R026084/1) and National Centre for Nuclear Robotics (NCNR, EP/R02572X/1).
I have been the University of Bristol lead for the Innovate-UK project ICON, working on wireless communication for closed-loop control systems in Moltex’ Stable Salt Reactor.
